Intro to Garment Construction + Craft Circle

Third Space and the Bennington Library are partnering up to provide space to explore creativity, learn new skills and socialize with other crafters. Join us for a rotating schedule of free craft skill classes from 9-10am with social craft circle time to follow (10am-noon). Come for either part or both!

*Please bring your own sewing machine and know the basics of how to operate it. We will have a couple of machines available to borrow*

INTRO TO GARMENT CONSTRUCTION CLASS (9-10am)

We will learn how to make a circle skirt with elastic waistband that you can take home at the end! Skills we will cover include:

- kinds of fabric (and when to use what)

- how to take your measurements

- cutting, pinning and stitching straight seams

- hems and elastic waistbands

Class is followed by social CRAFT CIRCLE (10am-noon) where you can bring your own project to work on or continue working on your project from class. This time is unstructured, come and go as you please and meant to be an opportunity for artists and crafters to meet, hang out and share project inspiration. Come for just the class, just the social crafting after or spend the whole morning with us!

The event is for adults. It's free and materials will be provided.
