The Free Farmers Market Food & Produce Swap (Copy)

  • Floors Floors Floors 7052 Maple St Omaha, NE (map)

Overrun by cucumbers? Have peppers coming out of your ears? Bring them to The Free Farmers Market! Share your overabundance with others while you take home some of theirs. No money is exchanged. Even if you are unable to bring anything, you can still take part.

Schedule of event
1-2pm is drop off time. Bring your food items (or just yourself) during this hour so your swap hosts have time to sort and organize the items. Donations after 2pm will not be accepted. You will receive a number in the order you arrive. This is the order you will be allowed to start “shopping”, so come early for first dibs! Shipment Vintage will have her onsite vintage clothing shop open, so take a peek while you wait!

Swapping starts at 2pm and goes until 4pm or until everyone has what they need or the food runs out, whichever comes first.

What can I bring?
- Produce from your garden (or someone you know’s garden)
- Baked goods (breads, cookies, muffins, etc.)
- Food you’ve canned or preserved (jam, salsa, pickles, etc.)
- Vegetable seeds or starter plants
- Sourdough starter
- If you grew, made or produced it and it’s something (edible) that you’d expect to see at a farmers market, it’s fair game!

If you plan to take goods home, please bring a bag and/or containers to fill!

Do I need to bring food to take food home?
No! All are welcome, including and especially those that have nothing to contribute.

Please don’t…
- Take more than you need. There will not be any policing of this, but please be mindful of other swappers and only take what your family could reasonably eat within the week.
- Bring anything that needs to be kept cold
- Contribute packaged food or produce from the grocery store
- Bring food near spoiling, very dirty or diseased produce. If you wouldn’t want to eat it, don’t bring it to the swap, compost it instead!
- Park in the bar parking lot across the street. Plan to park along the neighborhood streets to the north of Floors.
